Breast cancer symptoms, such as nipple discharge or breast lumps, are sure signs that a woman needs to meet with her doctor. But wouldn't it be better to find breast cancer when it's so small that it doesn't cause any symptoms at all? Mammogram images can help.
A mammogram helps your doctor to detect changes in your breasts that could be caused by cancer. And at CGH Medical Center, our equipment creates detailed mammogram images—so you can get the answers you need.
High-tech digital mammography equipment
We offer digital mammography, performed with GE Senocare units. These mammogram machines have been designed to provide crisp, clear images for radiology professionals. The images a digital mammography machine can create are truly striking.
Those mammogram images are available almost immediately, and they're portable—which means your doctor can review your mammograms in an exam room or in a surgery suite. And your doctor can quickly compare this year's mammogram results to the images taken in years prior.
Quick, clear, portable mammogram images help us to improve the care we offer our clients. We can perform fewer repeat mammograms, and we can answer questions quickly.
Skilled radiology professionals
Our skilled mammogram technicians perform hundreds of digital mammograms every year. They've been accredited and certified from discerning authorities, including the American College of Radiology, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety.
Your doctor will review your mammogram results. If your doctor sees an area of concern, you can get the follow-up testing you need right here at CGH Medical Center. We offer breast ultrasound testing and other breast cancer diagnostic tests to help your doctor understand what's happening with your breast tissue. Your doctor can talk your testing options over with you, and together, you can make the right choice.
And if you do have breast cancer, we offer the treatments you need, right here in Sterling.
Scheduling your mammogram
We make scheduling your mammogram quick and easy. Just call us, and we'll find an appointment time that's convenient for you. Keep these things in mind as you schedule your test:
- Avoid scheduling your mammogram during times of the month when your breasts are tender.
- Do not wear deodorant, powder or lotions on your breasts on the day of your mammogram.
- Wear a two-piece outfit, as you will be undressing from the waist up.
