The new Dementia Project was sparked by a bequest to the CGH Health Foundation from Hugh and Betty Miller, long-time Rock Falls residents who owned the Hugh F. Miller Insurance Agency together. Betty battled dementia for 11 years before passing in 2020.
It was Hugh’s wish before his death in 2021 that the Foundation would develop a new dementia program to make it easier for families and caregivers to help their loved ones.
Because of their legacy gift, a multi-dimensional program has been created with caregiver support groups formed, educational programs and classes hosted, a dementia navigator position created, an awareness campaign initiated and support for area care center sensory therapy programs provided.
