STERLING, IL (November 2, 2021) – Donors dedicated to the women of the Sauk Valley combined to raise a net of nearly $29,000 during the CGH Health Foundation Delicious Designs online event held in late October.
Proceeds from the eighth annual fundraiser will go towards the CGH Women’s Health Program and a new day of free counseling for OB patients who have been so greatly impacted by the pandemic. “The support of our online auction was tremendous,” said Co-Chairs Lindsey Fiorini, physical therapy assistant at CGH and Bi-County Special Education Cooperative, and Lindsey Pistole, retail director at Sauk Valley Bank. “We can’t thank our supporters enough for taking the time to bid and also purchase Wish List items for our patients to use, like turbans and scarves and meals served during chemotherapy.”
Since the event’s inception, the focus has been on raising funds for the CGH Women’s Health Program. “This year, we’re also providing a little TLC for our OB moms who have suffered so greatly during this pandemic,” said Co-Chairs Lindsey Fiorini and Lindsey Pistole. “A portion of the funds raised will go toward a new day of CGH Ways to Wellness counseling solely dedicated to pre/postpartum OB patients. Our moms have been greatly impacted by the stresses of the pandemic, with more anxiety and depression being seen in patients.”
The additional counseling day was added after a review of the past fiscal year showed patients assisted in the CGH Ways to Wellness Program jumped by 31%. Among that group was a large number of pregnant and new moms, who were impacted by the isolation and stress resulting from mandated restrictions. A YouTube yoga class and Zoom support group are also being offered this year.
The Foundation continues to partner with CGH Medical Center in providing screening mammograms, with out-of-pocket costs covered by the Foundation, regardless of insurance coverage. Diagnostic tests, breast biopsies, ultrasounds and MRIs are also partially covered. Comfort bags, scarves, turbans, and camisoles for breast cancer patients and meals for CGH Medical Center chemotherapy patients are funded as well.
A Virtual Pink Ribbon Tribute was created in memory of or in honor of a loved one who has been impacted by breast cancer. Go to cghmc.com/foundation to view the list of names submitted by individuals from the area.
