Marty Benson, Sterling, CGH Health Foundation trustee and long-time community volunteer, will again lead the 2016 CGH Health Foundation Annual Appeal. The annual campaign called “Creating Smiles. Together.” will kick off in May, with a goal of $350,000.
She will be joined again on the campaign cabinet by Dr. Matthew Cutter, chair, Medical Division, optometrist at CGH Vision Center; Nick Lareau, chair, Business Division, Financial Advisor from Edward Jones; Jerry Binder, chair, Clubs Division, Human Resources Director at Sterling Schools; and Mary Jean Derreberry, and Mary Spitzer, co-chairs, CGH Employee Division, Surgical Floor Manager and Main Clinic Pediatrics Department, respectively.
Mrs. Benson also led the fund drive in 2009 and has served on the Business Division fundraising committee for 10 years. “I encourage everyone to put your local area first, to keep your dollars here locally to help the Foundation maintain our under-served programs, to support our scholarships, to provide the resources for our chronic disease educational initiatives,” she said.
Since 1987, over $5 million has been raised and invested in providing better access to healthcare for children and adults in the Sauk Valley. Contributions are essential in fully funding the 15 projects, which include four new initiatives, according to Mrs. Benson. “Whether renewing or making your first gift, you are a partner in elevating the health status of the Sauk Valley,” she said.
Through the years, the health initiatives funded have had a proven record of reducing deaths, increasing health screenings and improving awareness of diseases in the Sauk Valley. Contributions are sought for the following projects: Protecting Our Infants, Transportation Assistance, Ways to Wellness, Main Clinic Oncology Renovation, Love on a Leash, Medication Assistance Program, Eyeglasses for Kids/Adults, Diabetes Education, Prescott Dental Clinic, Women’s Health, Community Health Network, Cardiac Wellness, Workplace Wellness, Nutrition & Fitness, and Scholarships.
“No matter what the amount of your gift, we thank you and urge you to say yes when the campaign gets underway,” said Mrs. Benson. “Join with me in making more smiles possible because we’ve lent a hand.”
