Carolyn Spencer, Rock Falls, was honored this week at her final meeting of the CGH Medical Center Board of Directors. A Board member since 2015, she also served as a CGH Health Foundation Board trustee from 2006 to 2020.

Upon retirement as president of US Bank for Sterling/Rock Falls/Dixon, she became Executive Director of Hospice of the Rock River Valley for several years and most recently consulted at Morningside.

Carolyn was a member of the hospital Planning Committee. She was Foundation Board Chair in 2009 and 2014, served as Vice Chair in 2008/2013 and Board Development Committee Chair in 2008/2013. In 2009, she oversaw the updating of the Foundation Mission, Vision and Values statements and logo and helped with a renewed rebranding campaign.

A member of the Annual Appeal Business Division Committee for many, many years, she served as Business Division Co-Chair in 2007. Carolyn was on the Finance Committee as well as the Planned Giving Committee. She was instrumental in helping coordinate plans for the newly expanded Tree of Life donor wall in 2008 when two Pine Trees were added to the CGH Lobby display.

Most recently, she was also very much a part of Foundation efforts to help create a new donor recognition piece that will eventually be added once the CGH Lobby is renovated.

She was an active community volunteer, completing a term as chair of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sauk Valley Board and was a member of the Regional Governance Board for the organization as well. She served as first vice president for the Sauk Valley Area Chamber of Commerce, was a member of Twin Cities Sunrise Rotary Club, Advisory Board member for Coventry Living Center, YWCA of the Sauk Valley Endowment Fund trustee, and United Way Major Firms Co-Chair.

She and her late husband, Wayne, have one daughter and two grandchildren. She enjoys being with her family and traveling.
