Angelo’s Pizzeria Decked Out In Pink Again for October
Contact: Joan Hermes
STERLING, IL (September 26, 2018) For the second year, all four Angelo’s Pizzeria locations in Sterling, Rock Falls and Dixon will be promoting and raising funds for breast cancer awareness during the month of October.
Last year their efforts yielded $16,230 from their promise to donate $1 for every pizza sold. All proceeds were given to the CGH Health Foundation Women’s Health Program to benefit the women of the Sauk Valley.
“Our goal this year is to beat last year’s donation,” said Michelle Hodge, operations manager of Angelo’s. “We have already started promoting it via Facebook, table tents, and our electronic signs. Angelo’s donates to many causes, but this cause is near and dear to our hearts.”
Angelo’s has been a part of the Sterling/Rock Falls communities since the mid-1950s. They are a popular spot after sporting activities, for birthdays and other special events. The employees will be wearing special pink t-shirts throughout the month.
The CGH Health Foundation has been devoted to raising awareness about early detection of breast cancer for almost three decades, according to Joan Hermes, executive director of the Foundation. “We are thrilled and humbled that Angelo’s has chosen to partner with us in this important cause.”
Breast health informational displays will be set up at all locations from Oct. 1 through Oct. 31. Monthly breast exams, getting a mammogram and seeing your medical professional are key to early detection, according to Hermes.
“Since 1993, we have provided free mammograms and Pap tests for the under-served women in our area communities,” said Hermes, “but this past summer we began partnering with CGH Medical Center Diagnostic Imaging Center staff to help fund no-cost screening mammograms for all of our patients, regardless of a women’s ability to pay.”
This new partnership should remove any obstacles that might exist for women to seek a mammogram in the CGH five-county service area. Call 815/625-0400, ext. 5550 to schedule a screening mammogram.
“We also provide pamper bags for our newly-diagnosed breast cancer patients, which includes a camisole for post-surgery,” said Hermes. “In addition, hot meals are funded for our cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy and other comfort bags are given to cancer patients who need a boost.”
