I’ve been part of the Emergency Department Patient Access team for a little over seven years. I have always worked in customer service and love helping people, so it’s a great fit for me. I’m one of the first contact points for patients in the Emergency Room and a point of contact for the entire CGH family as I answer all overnight hospital calls. Before serving in this role, I worked with Environmental Services/Housekeeping at CGH. So, I’m proof that there are plenty of opportunities for growth here– in your career and within yourself. The sky is the limit on how far you can go at CGH.
Greeting Action-Packed Nights with a Smile
I’ve been with CGH for a total of 7 years and 9 months. It’s a great place to work! No matter your pay grade, we all treat one another equally. We are a team. We are a family. We’re helping people in our community. The fact that I get to be part of it makes me feel very blessed.
Working in the Emergency Room, my day-to-day is full of action. Whether they walk in on foot or are brought in by ambulance, I greet everyone that comes into our ER, verify their patient information, and put together their charts. Some know their insurance information, and some don’t. So, when needed, we help dig and educate patients on what they have and try to calm nerves just by letting them know we’re there for them.
On top of that, I’m also on the switchboard after 8:30 p.m. I answer all hospital calls, page on-call physicians when needed, page overhead codes, and act as the ED greeter from 2:30 a.m. until 7 a.m. But again, I love helping people, and that’s what this job is all about.
CGH Provides a True Family Atmosphere
One of the things I love most about working at CGH is the people. I have a grandson who has had seizures since he was four days old. He is seven now, but my Patient Access coworkers are always willing to help pick up the slack if I need to be there for him. We help one another out. Through thick and thin, we have become family.
Living Out the Perks of the Job
Thanks to the flexible scheduling and PTO CGH offers its employees, I am able to enjoy life outside of work even more. I love spending time with my family and being outdoors, plus I vacation now more than I ever have! I would definitely recommend CGH as a great place to work!
