Celebrating 30 Years
Together, we have been so successful in impacting the lives of nearly 500,000 children and adults these last 30 years. But our work is not done.
When it comes to charitable donations, most people want to ensure that the funds they donate support real work that helps their community. When you donate to the CGH Health Foundation, you'll know that your money is going to a place you can trust. You'll see the results in your neighbors, city and county. Your support is crucial to carrying out life-changing health initiatives. Know that your support will send a message of hope and healing to someone who could use an extra hug.
A single gift from a Sterling man has now impacted over 350,000 children and adults living in the Sauk Valley area.
Emil T. Ryberg, for which the CGH Medical Center Ryberg Auditorium is named, left his estate to the hospital in the mid-1980s. His $400,000 bequest was a major factor in the creation of the CGH Health Foundation. His generosity has allowed the hospital to take its caring tradition outside hospital walls and into the communities we serve.
Quite literally, Ryberg was a neighbor to CGH, living a few blocks south of the hospital at 1008 First Ave. Perhaps his close proximity to the hospital caused him to think of CGH as he considered his legacy. As far back as the 1950s, there was no record of him being a patient.
Ryberg was 92 when he passed away. His gift formed the now $5.5 million endowment fund. Bequests, memorials, gifts of stock and annual gifts provided since then all help fund Foundation initiatives and grow our investments.
