Donors celebrated reaching and exceeding the $300,000 campaign goal during Thursday’s CGH Health Foundation reception. Two groups, Team Underwires and the CGH Auxiliary, were given special recognition during the annual event.
A Cardinal was dedicated on the Tree of Life in honor of Team Underwires. The local breast cancer group presented a $40,000 contribution for the Women’s Cancer Prevention Program. The CGH Auxiliary was feted for their successful Reflections Ball event and for putting the campaign at goal with a gift of $16,000.
“We are so honored and continue to be amazed at the dedication of the Team Underwires members,” said Bill Burke, campaign chair and CGH Medical Center Board chair. “This is their third year of making a significant gift to our breast cancer program. They are a huge factor in our ability to help under-served women receive breast care services and they should be applauded.”
The CGH Auxiliary hosted the 100th anniversary dinner dance, an event unlike any seen in recent years in the Sauk Valley. The funds raised helped purchase the Arctic Sun cooling device for the CGH Emergency Department and also has allowed them to sponsor other special projects, including Foundation programs. Cancer, heart disease, stroke, diabetes and nutrition programs, scholarships, and health services for the under-served are all funded by the Foundation.
One Cardinal, three Pine Cones and 48 Leaves were dedicated on the Tree of Life donor wall. Donors, their families and friends attended the event held in the CGH lobby.
