Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the Sauk Valley. In fact, one in three Whiteside County residents has some form of cardiovascular disease. Nationwide, the rate is only one in six.

"It's our job to prompt people to do something about this extremely high rate," said Andy Moore, Annual Appeal general chair and CGH Medical Center Board member. "The CGH Health Foundation specializes in community outreach, keeping the pulse on educational needs and gaps. We can help you keep better track of your numbers - your cholesterol, your blood pressure, and your glucose levels."

Nearly 126,000 children and adults were impacted last fiscal year through Foundation health initiatives. A portion of the funds raised through "A Change of Heart" will subsidize the Workplace Wellness Program and the CGH Cardiac Wellness Program.
