To apply for employment, please read the Standards of Behavior, and click "I accept." You will then be able to submit your application online. Upon employment, you will learn more about the standards and sign a contract validating your commitment to your job, your employer, your fellow worker, and most of all, to our patients.

The Standards of Behavior were developed by a team of front-line employees with a commitment to service excellence. These standards are a list of positive, respectful behaviors you will commit to if you come to work at CGH Medical Center. Accountability to these standards connects us to our purpose: the patient. By hiring employees who are accountable to living the standards set out in this document, we are creating a culture of excellence in all we do.

The CGH Medical Center Standards of Behavior

    Attitude
  • I will remember that I will never get a second chance to make a first impression.
  • I will be accountable for creating a positive work environment and relationships.
  • I will smile warmly, make eye contact and greet everyone I meet.
  • I will understand it is OK to smile and have fun at work.
  • I will be flexible and expect the unexpected.
    Teamwork
  • I will make the patient the focus of everything I do.
  • I will be accountable to the team and will cooperate with those both inside and outside my department.
  • I will acknowledge that each CGH employee plays an important role in our organization.
    Respect
  • I will treat all people as I would want to be treated.
  • I will respect cultural, religious, racial, sexual and economic differences.
  • I will show respect for my patients by addressing them by their chosen name.
  • I will respect the patient's privacy and confidentiality.
  • I will show respect for CGH by proper care and use of equipment and resources.
    Communication
  • I will use AIDET as a framework for communication with patients and families.
  • I will offer a sincere apology when necessary, and use service recovery tools when appropriate.
  • I will resolve conflicts professionally by speaking directly with the person involved.
  • I will use a private area to discuss personal issues or to vent frustration or anger.
  • I will use proper phone etiquette.
  • I will be aware of both verbal and non-verbal messages when speaking and listening.
    Appearance
  • I will dress to reflect respect for CGH and our patients.
  • I will follow my department dress code. I will wear clean and neat clothes that fit appropriately.
  • I will always wear my name tag at work, above my waist, with my name and picture showing.
  • I will help to keep CGH clean, neat, and safe.
    Guest Service
  • I will offer to escort each guest to their destination.
  • I will park in areas designated for employees so our guests can park as close as possible to the facility.
  • I will be responsible for responding to patient call lights. If I cannot meet the patient's needs I will find the person who can as quickly as possible.
  • I will sit down at the bedside with the patient whenever I can.
    Ownership and Accountability
  • I will always act like an owner of this organization.
  • I affirm my accountability to the Standards of Behavior for CGH, and my intention to hold others accountable.
