Studies have shown that specialized wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy:
- Accelerates wound healing
- Reduces amputation rates
- Helps patients avoid hospitalization and have an improved quality of life
The center features two state-of-the-art hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) chambers, a treatment in which the patient breathes 100 percent oxygen inside a pressurized chamber. HBOT quickly delivers high concentrations of oxygen to the bloodstream and assists in the healing process of wounds caused by diabetes, circulatory problems, and many other conditions.
HBOT is also effective in fighting certain types of infections, stimulating the
growth of new blood vessels, improving circulation, and has also been used to
treat crush injuries, osteomyelitis, skin grafts and flaps, and brown recluse
spider bites.
In addition, the center provides valuable education to patients and caregivers
to assist with wound management.
