They might be little people, but your kids are more than just pint-sized adults. Children need a special kind of medical care, plus extra TLC to ease their fears - and those of their parents.  

To help make your child's visit to the hospital go as smoothly as possible, we have set up a pre-admission process to help speed things along on the morning of your child's procedure. This process is to help decrease you and your child's anxiety and time spent at the hospital.

For children ages 3 and over, we offer a pre-operative class that includes a tour, video(s) and treats. For the parents, this is an opportunity to have any questions answered and to begin the admitting paper work. You will then be advised as to what time to arrive on the day of your procedure.

Please call the Pediatrics Unit at (815) 625-0400 ext. 5522 to set up an appointment for the pre-operative class. If you are unable to come to the hospital, or if your child is very young, you can also call the phone number above to schedule a telephone interview that will take 20 to 30 minutes.
